GIS Day to be held Nov. 13 Residents are invited to learn more about the county’s Geographic Information Services (GIS) on GIS Day. An informational open house will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, to highlight the county’s GIS resources that can be accessed through the county’s website. Forsyth County Updates Geographical Information System
Forsyth County is making it easier to find information through an upgrade to our GIS (Geographical Information System).  Beginning Friday, September 21, accessing information on park locations, road construction and even where to vote will be just a few clicks away. In addition to some of the pre-selected mapping features, users will be able to create their own maps, make notes on them, and then share the maps with others.   The upgrade will also be easy to use on any device – mobile, tablet or desktop. New Feature Added to Interactive Transportation Projects Map
In April, Forsyth County government launched a new web page – www.forsythco.com/transportation – on the county website to allow citizens to quickly and easily locate details on county transportation projects including road widenings, intersection improvements and more. To further help citizens on their daily commutes and trip planning, the map now displays temporary road closures related to road projects – including roads that are currently closed or will be in the near future. January 6, 2017: Due to current weather conditions, all general Forsyth County government offices will close today at 3 p.m. This early closure includes county government offices, the Forsyth County Courthouse and Courthouse Annex, the Animal Shelter, recycling convenience centers, Senior Services, and Forsyth County Parks & Recreation’s indoor and gated facilities. All Parks & Recreation programs and activities are cancelled.   Additionally, Forsyth County Parks & Recreation’s indoor and gated facilities, the recycling convenience centers and the Animal Shelter will be closed to the public Saturday and Sunday. All Parks & Recreation programs and activities are cancelled Saturday and Sunday.
