Following an announcement on Oct. 31, 2025, the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has announced the immediate and indefinite closure of the following USACE-operated parks in Forsyth County due to the ongoing Federal government shutdown impact of funding (any updates to these facilities will be communicated by USACE):

• Tidwell Park
• Little Ridge Park
• Two Mile Creek Park
• Vanns Tavern Park
• West Bank Park
• Keith Bridge Park (already closed for season)
• Long Hollow Park (already closed for season)

Forsyth County Parks & Recreation managed parks, boat ramps and campgrounds on Lake Lanier are OPEN amidst potential closures by USACE on Lake Lanier. Below is a list of County operated facilities on Lake Lanier, all open:

• Charleston Park
• Mary Alice Park
• Six Mile Creek Park
• Young Deer Creek Park
• *Sawnee Campground (closing for end of season – 11/1/25)
• *Bald Ridge Campground (closing for end of season – 11/30/25)
• *Shady Grove Campground

*Reservation required (not for day use).

PLEASE NOTE: Any USACE park passes are not accepted at Forsyth County operated campgrounds/facilities that require paid access.
