Board of Commissioners Proclaims Memorial Day and Peace Officers Memorial Day

At a May 15 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners proclaimed May 15, 2025, as Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Peace Officers Memorial Day was established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to honor the law enforcement officers of America who work devotedly and selflessly, regardless of the peril or hazard to themselves.

The Board encourages all citizens to salute Forsyth County’s brave law enforcement officers and remember their peace officer brothers and sisters who have fallen in the line of duty.

UNG at Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Academy Cadets were in attendance at the May 15 meeting.

The Board also proclaimed May 26, 2025, as Memorial Day and urges citizens to stand in united remembrance of the proud patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country so that we may live in freedom, prosperity, and enjoy the blessings our country has to offer.

Members of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office attended the Board meeting to receive the Peace Officers Memorial Day proclamation, and members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9143 received the Memorial Day proclamation. Both organizations were recognized for their past and continued service to the community and nation.
