Board of Commissioners Proclaims May 25 as Memorial Day, Flags to Fly at Half-Staff May 25
The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners proclaimed May 25, 2026, as Memorial Day during its regular meeting on May 21. American Legion Post 307 Director Kevin Opela received the proclamation at the meeting.
Memorial Day serves as an opportunity each year to pay homage to proud patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, in the service of freedom and justice.
By executive order of Gov. Brian Kemp, the flag of the United States and the Georgia flag at County government facilities will also fly at half-staff on Monday, May 25, until noon in honor and as a mark of respect for the memory of the fallen.
The Board of Commissioners urges all citizens to stand in united remembrance of those who have given their lives so that we may live in freedom, prosperity and enjoy the blessings our country has to offer.
