Upcoming Election Details: June 17 Statewide Special Primary for Georgia Public Service Commission

A statewide Special Primary for District 2 and District 3 of the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. What does this mean for Forsyth County voters? The statewide Special Primary is a special election by the Democratic Party and the Republican Party to nominate candidates for GA PSC to be voted on in the ensuing November Special Election. Each member elected to the PSC shall be required to be a resident of the PSC District they represent. Each member of the commission shall be elected statewide by the electors of Georgia (per House Bill 1312, as passed during the 2024 legislative cycle).

If needed, a Special Primary Runoff will be held on July 15, 2025.

The statewide Special Election to elect the Public Service Commissioner for District 2 and for District 3 will be held on November 4, 2025.

In Georgia, voters do not register to vote with a party. For the special primary, voters will select either a Democratic ballot type or a Republican ballot type. A voter’s choice of ballot type for this Special Primary is independent of previous or future choices of ballot types for primaries.
