Registration Open for Forsyth County's Fifth Annual Citizens' Academy
Residents are encouraged and welcome to apply for Forsyth County’s fifth annual Citizens’ Academy, a free and immersive program that will provide participants a behind-the-scenes look and deeper understanding of how Forsyth County Government operates.
Participating in eight classes over the course of four months, participants will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the departments of Finance, Fire, Planning & Community Development and many more. Applications must be submitted by Monday, April 27. Candidates accepted into the academy will be notified by April 29.
“The Citizens’ Academy is designed to educate residents about Forsyth County Government and create champions of Forsyth County who are inspired to become community leaders themselves,” said Forsyth County Manager David McKee. “We are excited to welcome another class of residents to the program and look forward to their continued contributions to making this County the best place to live, work and play.”
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and either a resident of Forsyth County, a small business owner in the county or attend a college or university located in the county. Participants must also be willing to make a commitment to attend the full program, which typically will be held twice a month from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning May 6 through Aug. 26.
Those interested in applying for the Citizen’s Academy must submit an application available at www.forsythco.com/engage. Selected applicants will be asked to complete a confidentiality and liability form prior to the start of the program. Space in the program is limited, and selection of qualified candidates is on a first-come, first-served basis.
