Forsyth County Citizens' Academy

The Forsyth County Citizens’ Academy is an immersive program that will expand residents’ knowledge of Forsyth County Government. Local government has the greatest impact on residents’ day-to-day lives, but most people know very little about the innerworkings of the government closest to them. We aim to change that with this interactive program, which will provide participants a behind-the-scenes look at the Forsyth County Government through meetings with County Officials and site visits to various County departments.

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2022 Citizens' Academy. Thank you to all who applied. Information about the 2023 Citizens' Academy class will be available next year.

Forsyth Student Government Academy

The Forsyth County Student Government Academy is a dynamic civics program for high school juniors that gives them the opportunity to engage with their local government and gain a deeper understanding of how it operates. We aim to enhance students’ leadership skills through conversations with government and community leaders. additionally, tours of county departments, including the Fire Department, Senior Services, the Animal Shelter, Water and Sewer facilities and more, give students a behind the scenes look at county government in action.

Students will graduate from the program with an expanded knowledge of Forsyth County government while establishing a deeper connection with the community as future leaders.
