Recycle Electronics and Paint November 7

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful invites residents to recycle their old electronics and unused paint during the upcoming electronics recycling event. Paint recycling and disposal is a new offering at the event, which will be held on Saturday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cumming Fairgrounds' parking lot 3 off of Castleberry Road.

Accepted items for the electronics recycling event include laptops, stereos, CD players, cell phones, printers, gaming consoles and controllers, fax machines and more. The minimum donation per carload drop-off is $5 while an additional $20 fee will apply for each television and an additional $5 fee will apply for each computer monitor.

Latex and oil-based paints in their original containers will also be accepted. The cost to dispose of latex paint is $10 for a 5-gallon bucket, $5 for a 2-gallon bucket, $3 for a 1-gallon can or $5 for two, and $1 for a 1-quart can or smaller. The cost to dispose of oil-based paints is $15 for a 5-gallon bucket, $4 for a 1-gallon can or $6 for two, $2 for a 1-quart can, and $1 for a 1-pint can. The cost is $1 for any type of spray can.

“We are excited to offer a new paint recycling and disposal event alongside our electronics recycling event,” Environmental Program Manager Tammy Wright said. “Many people I speak with tell me they have old cans of paint taking up space in their garage or shed and they are unsure about how to properly dispose of them. This event gives them a way to do so.”

Some items, such as large wooden console televisions, projector televisions, toaster ovens and refrigerators, will not be accepted during the event. For a complete list of acceptable and non-acceptable items, visit www.keepforsythcountybeautiful.org and click on the recycling/disposal tab or call KFCB at (770) 205-4573.
