Plant a Tree on Georgia Arbor Day

Free seedlings andtree planting demos will be available Feb. 15 

Residents are invited tocelebrate Georgia Arbor Day by attending a tree planting ceremony at TheOrchard at Chattahoochee Pointe (5790 Chattahoochee Pointe Dr.) as well asplanting their own trees. A limited number of free Swamp Chestnut and Dogwood treeseedlings will also be available during the event for residents to take homeand plant.

 

The free event – hostedby Keep Forsyth County Beautiful and the Forsyth County Master Naturalists andMaster Gardeners – will take place between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb.15. House Rep. Todd Jones will be delivering the Arbor Day proclamation andForsyth County Master Naturalists and Master Gardeners will be hosting a “Howto plant a tree from bare roots” demonstration.

 

“By planting theirseedlings, residents are leaving lasting gifts for future generations to enjoy,”said Environmental Program Manager Tammy Wright. “We are thrilled to giveparticipants a chance to learn insight from experts so they can watch theirtrees’ progress for years to come.”

 

Following the planting ofthe seedlings, Keep Forsyth County Beautiful will host a Trees of the Riverbankwalk along the Chattahoochee River at the park. 


In the event of rain, Keep Forsyth County Beautiful will still be distributing seedlings to residents during the event. All other planned activities may be cancelled depending on weather conditions.
