Helicopter Installation for New Power Transmission Lines Planned for SR 400, 369 and 306

UPDATE: Due to unfavorable weather conditions, work planned for Friday, Feb. 10 (Martin Rd.) has been postponed to Monday, Feb. 13. Timeline changes are reflected below and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Transmission line installation on power structures along SR 400, 306, 369 and Martin Rd. is expected to begin, via helicopter, Monday. Feb. 13 with additional dates listed below. The scheduled hours for this work (weather permitting) will be approximately between mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

Intermittent lane closures are possible (though not anticipated) during installation times during the tentative project timeline for helicopter work:

  • Martin Rd. east of SR 400 (Monday, Feb. 13)
  • SR 369 from Holtzclaw Rd. to Hammonds Crossing (Monday, March 13)
  • SR 306 from 369 to Martin Rd. (Monday, March 13)
  • SR 400 N/B from Martin Rd. to Bottoms Rd. (Monday, Feb. 20)

The estimated construction dates are subject to change due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Helicopter-assisted operations, such as this, are common in the electric utility industry and are used to reduce the time it will take to complete the work as well as to minimize disruptions to traffic.

The County’s social media channels will be updated should the estimated flight dates change.
