Forsyth County Youth Football and Cheerleading Announces New League Alignment in 2026

Starting in 2026, the Forsyth County Youth Football and Cheerleading Leagues will officially partner with the Cherokee County Youth Football Association to expand program opportunities. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening youth football and cheer programs while creating a positive, community-focused experience for athletes, families, coaches and volunteers.

“This alignment represents an exciting opportunity to grow and enhance youth sports across our communities,” said Director of Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Kirk Franz. “By working together, we can provide a stronger league structure, improve competition and continue to foster an environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, development and fun for our young athletes.”

League officials from both organizations will spend the coming months finalizing league structure, operations, and seasonal details in preparation for the 2026 season. Additional information, including scheduling and program updates, will be shared as plans are completed.

Registration for the Forsyth County Football and Cheerleading League opens Sunday, Feb. 1. Those interested in registering can find more information here.

Forsyth County Parks & Recreation looks forward to this new chapter and appreciates the continued support of families, volunteers and community partners who make youth sports possible.

In addition, Parks & Recreation is currently updating its 10-year Master Plan and encourages residents to participate in the Master Plan survey to provide input that will help guide future parks, programs and recreational opportunities throughout Forsyth County.
