Official County Meetings

Georgia law states that the County “site” (the place where the County conducts official business via official Board of Commissioners policy adoption) be located within the County “seat” (City of Cumming’s city limits). Freedom Park is located just outside of the official County “site” thus necessitating official County action still be taken within the City of Cumming’s city limits. Until a solution is finalized, such as a duly approved Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the City of Cumming authorizing annexation of the Freedom Park property, official action will be taken in the existing Administration Building (110 E. Main Street) and advertised accordingly. All administrative and other business functions, however, are not subject to the state regulation and will occur at Freedom Park.

All official Forsyth County commission and committee public meetings and work sessions will take place at 110 E. Main Street. This includes:

  • Board of Commissioners
  • Planning Commission
  • Zoning Board of Appeals
  • Water & Sewerage Authority
  • Finance Committee
  • Other board/committees as advertised

All official County meetings will continue to be publicly advertised, according to Georgia law, via www.forsythco.com as well as the County’s legal media organ, Forsyth County News.
