Forsyth County 911 Center to be Reviewed for CALEA Re-Accreditation

CALEA to evaluate 911 Centerfor accreditation that demonstrates commitment to excellence

 As part of the process to be awarded theCommission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Public SafetyCommunications Accreditation, a team of assessors will examine all aspects ofthe 911 Center’s policy and procedures, management, operations and supportservices through a remote assessment beginning June 1.

Accreditation lasts for fouryears, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting continuedcompliance with assessed standards. Forsyth County was last awarded the CALEAPublic Safety Communications Accreditation on Nov. 5, 2016. The CALEA assessment team iscomposed of public safety communications practitioners from similarout-of-state agencies. The assessors will review written materials, videos andwill interview individuals to verify compliance. Once the commission’sassessors complete their review of the agency, they will report back to thefull commission, which will then decide if the agency is to be grantedaccredited status.

As part of the assessment, agencypersonnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments viatelephone or mail. Any person wishing to submit questions or comments inwriting to the commission can do so by mailing:

All comments must address theagency’s ability to comply with CALEA.
