Update:  August 28, 2020 There are two things we want you to know about your water from Forsyth County.  1)     It is safe to drink. 2)     We are continually testing and monitoring to ensure the safety of the water. Here is an update on two items. Community Input Sought for Sawnee Mountain Preserve Overlook Amenities
New scenic overlook to be located at former Barker House property   Forsyth County Parks & Recreation is seeking community input for amenities to be featured at a proposed scenic overlook at Sawnee Mountain Preserve. The input process will be conducted online, and participants will be able to view a narrated presentation about the project as well as participate in a community engagement survey.   The presentation includes information about the project site, existing conditions and types of amenities that are being proposed. Forsyth County Water and Sewer Department is aware that some residents have reported that their water has an unusual taste and odor. Testing of the raw water from Lake Lanier has confirmed that levels of Methylisoborneol (MIB) and Geosmin are higher than have been seen in past years.  These two compounds are not harmful. However, they can cause an earthy, musty taste and odor in water. While some people may notice this, many others will not notice it. At 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to consider the possible ratification, adoption and/or extension, until December 4, 2020, of an existing moratorium on the acceptance of applications for multifamily and single family attached developments on properties zoned Res6, Res4 and R3. August 11 Election Day Information
Tuesday, Aug. 11, is Election Day for the General Primary Runoffs. The two runoffs are for the Democratic and Republican Primary for US Congressional District 9 and the Republican Primary for State House District 9. Polling places involved in the runoffs will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Forsyth County registered voters must go to their designated polling place to cast a vote. New Playground Now Open at Poole’s Mill Park

New Playground Now Open at Poole’s Mill Park
New playground replacement includes swings, slides, resurfacing and more A new playground has been installed and is now open at Poole’s Mill Park (7725 Poole’s Mill Road).   The playground replaces the previous one located near the parking area and is designed for ages 5-12. The playground includes slides, swings (one handicapped accessible), an IKO ball climber, synthetic turf surfacing and more. Shade sails will be installed at a later date. The cost of the playground replacement project is $210,000 and was funded by the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation 2020 Capital Replacement Plan Budget.
