Forsyth County Updates Geographical Information System
Forsyth County is making it easier to find information through an upgrade to our GIS (Geographical Information System).  Beginning Friday, September 21, accessing information on park locations, road construction and even where to vote will be just a few clicks away. In addition to some of the pre-selected mapping features, users will be able to create their own maps, make notes on them, and then share the maps with others.   The upgrade will also be easy to use on any device – mobile, tablet or desktop. Safe Kids Forsyth and the Forsyth County Fire Department are partnering during Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept. 23-29) to help ensure children are riding safely throughout the year. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, Safe Kids Forsyth will host a free car seat checkup event at Old Navy (2255 Market Pl. Blvd.) in Cumming.  Residents can also schedule an appointment to have their child’s safety seat inspected and installed by a Child Passenger Safety Technician anytime year-round at a participating Forsyth County fire station. Forsyth County Fire Department Receives Homeland Security Grant for Additional Staffing
Grant to assist in funding the hiring of 12 firefighters  The Forsyth County Fire Department has been awarded a grant from the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA to support the staff cost for a new fire station in the western portion of the county. The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant has been awarded in the amount of $1,652,080, with the county providing a required cash match contribution of $1,026,968.   The grant will fund the hiring of 12 new firefighters that will be stationed at the new Pittman Rd. fire station that is scheduled to open sometime late next ...

Temporary Traffic Shift on Union Hill Road

Temporary Traffic Shift on Union Hill Road
Traffic will be shifted in both directions on Union Hill Road starting September 14 for an estimated three months to allow for the widening of the road. Traffic will be shifted from the Hollybrooke Subdivision entrance to Tidwell Road. Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Patriot Day, September 11
The United States flag will be displayed at half-staff at Forsyth County government facilities on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, in recognition of Patriot Day following a proclamation by President Donald J. Trump.  By a joint resolution approved 12/18/2001, Public Law 107-89 has designated September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day" which also directs flags be lowered to half-staff for the entire day on September 11.

Mr. Dan Callahan has joined Forsyth County government as the director of Public Facilities. In this role, Callahan will oversee the operation of all public owned facilities. He will also oversee management and completion of capital improvement projects.  Callahan brings to the position more than 20 years of experience managing facilities and support service operations in a variety of industries. Most recently he worked for Alcon/Novartis in Johns Creek as head of Real Estate and Facilities Services for the Southeast.
