Two Eagle Scouts Recognized by Board of Commissioners

At a Feb. 15 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recognized the accomplishments of Allison Conklin and Thomas Durand, who both recently earned the Eagle Scout rank, the highest ranking attainable in the Boy Scouts of America program.

Conklin’s Eagle Scout Project consisted of leading more than 30 volunteers in over 120 hours of community service in support of the restoration of the horse barn at Bearfoot Ranch, a non-profit equestrian center dedicated to providing therapeutic riding lessons and other activities.

Durand’s Eagle Scout Project consisted of designing, raising the necessary funds for, and leading a group of about 12 Scouts and other volunteers to build a gaga ball pit at Oak Grove Baptist Church, which encourages fun physical activity for youth of all ages and sizes.

The Board congratulates the Scouts for their outstanding achievements and thanks them for the many hours dedicated to serving the community.
