Touch a Truck and Child Safety Seat Event September 9 at Fowler Park

Families will want to mark their calendars now for a day of fun and safety on Saturday, September 9, when Forsyth County will host a touch a truck and child safety seat event. The free event will be held near the playground at Forsyth County’s Fowler Park from 9 a.m. to noon.

Offered by Safe Kids Forsyth and the Forsyth County Fire Department, this event will provide an opportunity for parents and other caregivers to have their child safety seats inspected for proper installation while the kids check out a fire truck up close.

“Unfortunately, all too often we see that child safety seats are not properly installed,” said Division Chief Jason Shivers. “This event provides attendees the chance to have trained technicians inspect their car seats and ensure they are installed properly. The technicians will also review with the parent or caregiver how to properly install the seat themselves. We want to help ensure children are always riding safely.”

While parents and caregivers are having their child’s safety seat inspected, children will have the opportunity to get an up-close look at a fire truck.

Fowler Park is located at 4110 Carolene Way in Cumming. For more information, call Forsyth County Parks & Recreation at (770) 886-4088 or the Forsyth County Fire Department at (770) 205-5699.
