Public Hearing regarding Possible Extension of Zoning Moratorium

Update: At their meeting April 7, 2016, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners extended the moratorium prohibiting the tendering of applications for the following land use actions:

  1. New Zonings

  2. Zoning Condition Amendments

  3. Sketch Plat Approvals

  4. Conditional Use Permits

For property zoned as RES2, RES3 and RES4, the moratorium will expire on May 6, 2016. All other land use applications, effective April 8, 2016, may be tendered to Planning & Community Development. County initiated rezonings, condition amendments, etc., may also be pursued.

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to consider extending for 30 days the existing moratorium barring the acceptance of applications for rezoning of property, zoning condition amendment applications, sketch plat approval applications, and applications seeking issuance of conditional use permits, at the board’s regular meeting on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 5 p.m.

The purpose of the public hearing shall be for public review and comment concerning extending for 30 days the existing moratorium barring the acceptance of applications for rezoning of property, zoning condition amendment applications, sketch plat approval applications, and applications seeking issuance of conditional use permits, in order to allow the Planning Department to identify, hire and train qualified individuals and resolve its staffing situation. Forsyth County residents and any other affected and/or interested persons are invited and encouraged to attend.
