Parks and Recreation Hosting Inaugural Trail Race in March

Forsyth County Parks & Recreation is hosting the inaugural Rec & Run 5K & Fun Run on Saturday, March 18 at Chattahoochee Pointe Park (5790 Chattahoochee Pointe Park). The race will begin promptly at 8 a.m.

“We are excited to offer this family running event to the community,” said Parks & Recreation Interim Director Laura Pate. “Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the park’s 5K trail while getting some physical activity and supporting recreation scholarships.”

Two races will be available for participants: a 5K and a fun run option for participants 12 and under as well as those with special needs. The 5K is capped at 250 participants, and the fun run is capped at 60 participants.

All participants registered prior to Sunday, Feb. 26 will receive a race T-shirt to mark the occasion. T-shirts will be on a first come, first served basis for late registrations.

Awards will be given to winners in overall categories and specific age groups ranging from 13-55+.

Proceeds will benefit the Forsyth County Parks & Recreation scholarship fun to provide recreational opportunities for County residents facing financial hardships.
