Lanierland Park Unveils New Amenities

New amenities, facilities and Miracle League field previewed

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the expansion of Lanierland Park (6115 Jot Em Down Road) was held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, to give the community a first look at the park’s newest amenities which will be opening throughout fall 2023.

“This is a very exciting day for Parks & Recreation and the many visitors in north Forsyth, and around the county, that utilize Lanierland,” said Parks & Recreation Director Kirk Franz. “The new amenities and facilities at the park have something for everyone to enjoy. The addition of the new Miracle League field will enhance the experience for those athletes.”

This expansion project, designated as phase two of the park’s master plan, includes the following:

- Six tennis courts

- Four pickleball courts

- Four baseball/softball fields

Miracle League field

- All-inclusive playground

- Walking path

- Football/lacrosse fieldhouse

- Additional parking

The ceremony featured remarks from elected officials, Parks & Recreation staff, community leaders and more. A Miracle League game exhibition game followed a ceremonial first pitch on the new field by league participants after the ribbon cutting.

The consultant for the project was Lose Design, and the general contractor was Astra Group Inc. The project budget was $16.5 million and funded by SPLOST VII and impact fees.
