Forsyth County Reports Sewage Spill to Georgia EPD
In accordance with Environmental Protection Division regulations, this is a notice that on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, a sewer spill was discovered at the Shakerag Water Reclamation Facility (545 Kemp Road Suwanee, GA 30024).
It is estimated that approximately 6,000 gallons of aerobic sludge spilled on the ground on Forsyth County property. A portion of the spill entered an unnamed tributary upstream of a pond on the property. The spill was the result of broken sample pipe caused by freezing conditions experienced in the prior days. The ground affected by the spill has been cleaned up and treated with lime.
