Forsyth County Announces Dates and Times for Southeast Forsyth Design Initiative Community Character Workshop

Residents as well as business andproperty owners invited to provide input on community character and identity

 

Dates and times have been announced for aseries of Southeast Forsyth Design Initiative Community Character Workshop intendedto help shape the community’s identity. During these facilitated gatherings,attendees will be invited to provide input on a variety of topics that will impactthe southeastern Forsyth County community.

 

The approximate boundaries for this areaare State Hwy. 400 to the west, McGinnis Ferry Rd. to the south and north ofState Hwy. 20 on the northern boundary.

 

The workshop will be held at the SharonSprings Park Community Building (1950 Sharon Rd.). Specific times and formatsare:

 

Sept. 16:
Focus Groups – This opportunity will offer a group immersion experiencefor participants to discuss ideas and innovative ways to address communitybranding and commercial corridor design; RSVP requested, but not required (To RSVP, please email Vanessa Bernstein-Goldman at
VDBernstein@forsythco.com).

 

1 – 3 p.m.: Neighborhood participation

3 – 5 p.m.:  Business communityparticipation

 

Open House (5 – 7:30 p.m.) This opportunity willinclude sharing of themes arising from the focus group discussions. There willalso be a forum for participants to ask questions and offer feedback on thebranding initiative as well as the commercial corridor design (designexercises, questionnaire and informal discussions).

 

Sept. 17:

Drop-in (9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) This opportunitywill include one-on-one discussions and a forum for participants to askquestions and offer feedback.

 

Open House (5 – 7:30 p.m.) This opportunity willinclude sharing of themes arising from the Sept. 16 workshop feedback. Therewill also be a forum for participants to ask questions and offer feedback onthe branding initiative as well as the commercial corridor design (designexercises, questionnaire and informal discussions).

 

Sept. 18:

Drop-in (9 a.m.– 1 p.m.) This opportunity willinclude one-on-one discussions and a forum for participants to ask questionsand offer feedback 

 

Open House (4 – 7:30 p.m.) This meeting will offera presentation of a draft community graphic identity as refined through the workshopprocess as well as visual examples and potential standards for commercialcorridor design. The presentation will summarize workshop feedback andwill include continued discussion of key themes that emerged during theengagement process
