Board of Commissioners Recognizes Jim Pryor for Service as Parks & Recreation Director

During their Jan. 5 meeting, the Board of Commissioners recognized Jim Pryor for his service as Parks & Recreation director.

Pryor began working for the County as director of Parks & Recreation in 2014. During his tenure, Pryor helped elevate the department to not only one of the state’s best parks departments, but one of the nation’s, receiving many accolades for the department including Georgia Recreation and Park Association Agency of the Year in 2018 and 2020.

He conducted the 2016-2026 Comprehensive Master Plan Update, facilitated the 2017 and 2022 national accreditation through CAPRA, becoming one of only 196 departments accredited in the U.S., oversaw the construction of and opening of several new parks along with renovations to existing parks and increased the department’s revenue from $2.6 million in 2015 to over $4 million in 2022.

The members of the Board of Commissioners thank Pryor of his dedicated service, leadership and the performance in his role as well as extend best wishes for his future.
