Board of Commissioners Proclaims May as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners proclaimed the month of May 2024 as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.

According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, cystic fibrosis is a genetic condition that affects a protein in the body, specifically in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Nearly 40,000 children and adults in the United States and more than 100,000 people worldwide are currently living with cystic fibrosis.

Members of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and local families affected by the condition were present to accept the proclamation.

During May, the Board encourages Forsyth County residents to increase their understanding of this disease.
