Board of Commissioners Proclaims Hispanic Heritage Month and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

At a Sept. 18 regular meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners proclaimed Sept. 15, 2025, through Oct. 15, 2025, as Hispanic Heritage Month.

This year’s national Hispanic Heritage Month theme is “Collecting Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future,” which celebrates the deep-rooted cultural traditions of the Hispanic and Latino American communities while recognizing the creativity and potential of future generations.

The Board is committed to recognizing Hispanic and Latino American culture and heritage as an important part of the Forsyth County community.

The Board also proclaimed September 2025 as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

According to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, ovarian cancer is the 11th most common cancer among women, and an estimated 20,890 new cases of ovarian cancer will be diagnosed in the United States in 2025.

The Board encourages all Forsyth County citizens to become aware of the impact that ovarian cancer has on the community, to honor those who have survived ovarian cancer, memorialize those who gave their all to the fight, and support those currently fighting against the disease.
