Residents can make a positive impact on local waterways by joining Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB), the city of Cumming and the Lake Lanier Association for the 31st annual Shore Sweep/Rivers Alive litter cleanup event. The cleanup is part of the Lake Lanier Association’s 2019 Lake Lanier Shore Sweep event and will take place Saturday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Families, co-workers, organizations, scout troops and individuals are encouraged to volunteer for the annual waterway cleanup event on Lake Lanier and its tributaries.

KFCB will be providing leadership at the Bald Ridge Marina and Port Royale Marina sites in Forsyth County. Forsyth County volunteers are encouraged to register for the event by calling KFCB at (770) 205-4573 or by visiting and clicking on the calendar page. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13.

Volunteers will meet at Bald Ridge Marina (1850 Bald Ridge Marina Rd.) or at Port Royale (8800 Port Royale Dr.) on Sept. 14 to gather supplies, pick up a t-shirt and receive instructions.

Volunteers with boats of all types are needed. If you have a boat and are willing to assist with the cleanup of sites with no land access, please contact KFCB.
