During their August 16 regular meeting, the Forsyth CountyBoard of Commissioners proclaimed August 31, 2018 as Overdose Awareness Day inForsyth County. Drug overdose is the number one causeof injury deaths in the nation with an accidental overdose death occurringevery 8 minutes, surpassing deaths from motor vehicle accidents or gunhomicides according to the Attorney General of Georgia.
