Road Renaming Dedication Ceremony

Asa way to honor four Forsyth County public safety personnel who fell in the lineof duty, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recently approved therenaming of four roads – two memorializing fallen deputies and twomemorializing fallen firefighters.

 

Today,two of those roads were officially dedicated. Sections of North Old AtlantaRoad have been renamed for Deputy Bill Cantrell and Reserve Deputy Larry Mulkey,who were shot and killed in 1972 after being abducted during a traffic stop.Today a ceremony was held to dedicate “Deputy Bill Cantrell Memorial Road” and“Larry Mulkey Memorial Road.”

 

Plans are being made for dedicationceremonies for the two roads renamed for the fallen firefighters, with detailsto be announced at a later date.

 

Weowe a debt of gratitude to the courageous men and women who fell while inservice to this county.
