Recycle Household Hazardous Waste Nov. 5

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB), in partnership with the Forsyth County Recycling and Solid Waste Department and the City of Cumming, invites residents to participate in the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Recycling and Disposal event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Cumming Fairgrounds' parking lot 3 (235 Castleberry Rd.).

Online registration and a printed or electronic confirmation are required for participation. Registration for County residents is now open at keepforsythcountybeautiful.org. Availability is on a first come, first served basis until the maximum amount of materials or vehicles are registered for participation.

Items that will be accepted include corrosive, ignitable, toxic and/or reactive HHW items.

Items accepted:

  • Aerosols including aerosol paint
  • Automotive products (batteries, degreaser, brake/transmission fluid, antifreeze, motor oil, etc.)
  • Batteries (all types)
  • Chemicals
  • Chlorinated solvents
  • Cleaners (corrosives, spot removers, bleach, acids and bases)
  • Electronics (computers, monitors, laptops, televisions, etc.)
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Flammables (lighter fluid and waste fuels such as kerosene, gasoline, diesel fuel, etc.)
  • Fluorescent bulbs and ballasts
  • Glues and epoxy
  • Lawn care products (weed killer, fertilizer, etc.)
  • Mercury
  • Oils and greases (motor, lubricants, industrial)
  • Paints and Stains (all types) - limit 10 gallons
  • Pesticides (herbicides, flea and tick products, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides, etc.)
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Small propane gas cylinders
  • Solvents and varnishes
  • Thermometers and thermostats
  • Wood preservatives

Not Accepted:

  • Medical waste, needles
  • Ammunition, explosives
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Non-hazardous items

There is no charge for dropping off household hazardous waste during the event. A $5 donation is requested to help support Keep Forsyth County Beautiful, a 501c3 non-profit organization.
