March 12 Presidential Preference Primary at a Glance

What do you need to know about the upcoming election in Forsyth County? On March 12, a presidential preference primary (PPP) will be held, which is an open primary for each political party so the electors may express their preference for one person to be the candidate for nomination for the office of President of the United States. Important dates for this election are below, with the first being the upcoming voter registration deadline. Feb.12 is the deadline to register to vote or make changes to your registration record in order for those changes to be in effect for the March 12 election.

  • Voter registration deadline: Feb. 12
  • Advance Voting in Person: Feb. 19 through March 8
  • Absentee Vote by Mail:
    • Accepting applications through March 1
    • Mailing absentee ballots to those who request them: Feb. 12 through March 1
  • Election Day Voting in Person: March 12
