Judges Appointed to Forsyth County Juvenile Court

The Superior Court judges of theBell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit are pleased to announce the appointments ofChristopher Willis and J. Russell Jackson to the positions of Juvenile CourtJudge.

The swearing in is scheduled for 8:30a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018. The ceremony will take place in Courtroom 501in the Forsyth County Courthouse (100 W. Courthouse Sq.).

Judge Willis attended Harding Universityand earned his juris doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law. Forthe past 23 years, Judge Willis has been in private practice focusing oncriminal and civil litigation. A registered mediator, Judge Willis has servedas an associate magistrate for the Forsyth County Magistrate Court sinceJanuary 2015. 

Judge Jackson attended the University ofGeorgia and received his juris doctorate from the University of Georgia Schoolof Law. Judge Jackson began his legal career as a law clerk for Superior CourtJudges Frank C. Mills, III and Richard S. Gault.  He practiced law until he was appointed asthe first Forsyth County judge to serve fulltime as a Juvenile Court judge.Judge Jackson has served on the Juvenile Court bench for the past nineteenyears.

Selected by the Superior Court Bench ofForsyth County, the judges will hear cases involving allegations of dependency(abuse and neglect), Child in Need of Services cases, delinquency, parentalrights and traffic violations for juveniles. While the Juvenile Courtpreviously held only one full-time judgeship, the Superior Court recentlyestablished a second full-time judgeship to better serve families and childrenin Forsyth County.
