CANCELLED: Groundbreaking Ceremony To Be Held For New Fire Station 15

The groundbreaking ceremony for Fire Station 15 has been cancelled due to weather. Updates regarding the potential rescheduling will be made as necessary.

New station to replace current Station 15 in southeast Forsyth

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30 for the new Fire Station 15 to be located in the southeastern portion of Forsyth County (1725 Trammel Rd.).

“The County is growing, and we are growing with it,” said Forsyth County Fire Chief Barry Head. “This replacement station will allow us to proudly continue to serve the residents of Forsyth County.”

The new station’s design is based on a standard template for the County fire stations that has been improved over the years with Fire Station 11 being the primary model. Construction of the new Station 15 is funded by the voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VI and VIII programs as well as Impact Fees. The construction cost of the project is estimated to be $6.6 million.

Fire Station 15 will be a 12,500 square foot, four-bay station, accommodating the personnel and equipment that will operate out of the facility and to allow for future growth. The station is expected to open in the spring of 2024.

“We are thankful to the taxpayers who approved the SPLOST programs that led to us being able to fund this new station,” said Fire Chief Head. “We thank the Board of Commissioners as well for their consistent support of the Fire Department.”

The general contractor for the station is Kevin Price Construction. The architect for the project is Croft and Associates.
