Forsyth County Seeking Over 600 Poll Workers for 2026 Election Cycle
The Forsyth County Department of Voter Registrations & Elections is calling on community members to serve as poll workers during the 2026 election cycle. More than 600 poll workers are needed during the 2026 election cycle. To volunteer, candidates must be a U.S. citizen and at least 16 years old.
“Poll workers serve a critical and nonpartisan role in ensuring smooth, fair, and accessible elections for all voters,” said Voter Registrations & Elections Director Mandi Smith. “A sufficient group of trained poll workers is essential to the integrity and operations of each polling place.”
Poll worker duties can include welcoming voters, verifying photo IDs, checking in voters, assisting voters with the election equipment when needed, and keeping lines moving efficiently throughout the day.
Forsyth County currently has two scheduled Election Days and two possible Runoff Election Days. The 2026 Election Days are:
- Tuesday, May 19, 2026 – General Primary & Nonpartisan General Election
- Tuesday, June 16, 2026 – General Primary Runoff, if needed
- Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026 – General Election
- Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2026 – General Election Runoff, if needed
In addition to Election Day poll worker assignments, Early/Advance Voting opportunities may be available.
Poll workers also have the choice of earning a small stipend or volunteering their time while supporting the democratic process.
