Fire Department Hosting Inaugural Hometown Heroes 5K to Support Local Public Safety Charity

The Forsyth County Fire Department is hosting its first Hometown Heroes 5K to support Benevolent Association Dedicated to Giving to Employees (B.A.D.G.E.) of the Forsyth County Service Organizations, a local nonprofit aimed at fostering aid and supporting the overall well-being of Forsyth County first responders.

The race will be on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2023, starting at 8 a.m. at the Big Creek Greenway’s Fowler Park Trailhead (4110 Carolene Way, Cumming). The course will be an out-and-back.

“This 5K provides the community a chance to engage with the Fire Department in a new and exciting way while helping us support a great cause,” said Fire Chief Barry Head. “We hope everyone will come out and show out for this event and above all, have fun.”

Interested racers will get to run alongside members of the department in their full gear. Racers can run in person or virtually, and others who would like to help the cause but can not run have the option to donate directly to B.A.D.G.E.

Registration is open now until the day of the race. More information about the race and registration can be found by clicking here.
