County-Wide Burn Ban Effective Immediately

The Forsyth County Fire Department has implemented a county-wide burn ban due to extremely dry weather conditions and an extended time without meaningful rainfall. This ban pulls the state-required summer burn ban forward from May 1 to today, April 24. Outdoor burning will not be allowed again until October 1, weather permitting.

Outdoor burning causes serious and significant risk to the public during drought and near-drought conditions. Any outdoor recreational fires (such as backyard fire pits, campfires, cooking fires and campground grills) are strongly discouraged. While technically legal during a burn ban, Forsyth County Fire Department officials are asking that residents refrain from any and all recreational fires until weather conditions improve and our area has experienced significant and prolonged rainfall.
