Three August sessions offered to accommodate residents’ schedules Forsyth County is seeking input on residential design standards in the southeast portion of the county.  The approximate boundaries for this area are Georgia 400 to the west, McGinnis Ferry Rd. to the south and the Highway 20 vicinity to the north. Public feedback is needed to assist with the establishment of standards that reflect distinctive character for future development in this area.  The community is encouraged to participate and assist with the design process. Meetings to discuss potential ordinance modifications to be held Aug. 15 and Aug. 22   Two public input meetings will be held in August to continue the public engagement process for the review of the county’s tree ordinance and regulations pertaining to mass grading. Portion of Big Creek Greenway Closed for Storm Damage Repairs
The Big Creek Greenway trail is closed between mile marker 1.5 and 3.6, from the McFarland Parkway Trailhead (1622 McFarland Parkway) to the Union Hill Road Trailhead (5259 Union Hill Road).   This part of the trail has damage from the recent storms and may be closed for one week or longer. The trail is open from the north side of the Union Hill Road Trailhead to Kelly Mill Road.   Updates will be provided on the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation website at www.forsythco.com/parks.

Both reports can be viewed at forsythco.com   The 2017 Forsyth County Annual Report, 2017 Forsyth County Fire Department Annual Report and 2017 Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Annual Report are now available. GDOT: Resurfacing of State Route 369 at State Route 400 to Close Intersection on July 23
Georgia Department of Transportation - On Monday, July 23, the intersection of State Route 369 (SR 369) and State Route 400 (SR 400) will be closed to traffic. This will allow a three-day resurfacing project to be completed before the school year begins. This work will require traffic to be detoured on Monday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Georgia DOT will set up the detour preceding the intersection of SR 369 and SR 400 at SR 306 (Keiths Bridge Road) and SR 9 to direct drivers around the work zone. All Southbound Lanes of State Route 400 Open to Traffic Wednesday
The final section on State Route 400 southbound between State Route 369 (Browns Bridge Road) and State Route 141 (Peachtree Parkway) will open to traffic Wednesday, July 11 at 5 a.m. The widening of State Route 400 has added an additional lane in each direction on State Route 400 between McFarland Parkway and State Route 369, along with widening the bridges over Big Creek and Lake Lanier. C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. began work in April 2015. In December, southbound lanes between State Route 141 and McFarland Parkway opened to motorists.
