Forsyth County residents desiring to register to vote or change their name and/or address on the voter registration list may do so one of the following ways. In Georgia, voters must be registered to vote 30 days prior to an election to be eligible to vote in that election. Click here for a list of Voter Registration Deadlines. Online: To use the Georgia Secretary of State's Online Voter Registration System you must have a valid driver's license or identification card issued by the GA Department of Driver Services (DDS) with signature on file with DDS. If you do not have a valid driver's license or identification card, you will be allowed to print and manually submit a paper Voter Registration Application. In Person: at the Forsyth County Voter Registrations and Elections Office located at 1201 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA 30040 or at any public library in the county for library card holders. The Elections Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Applications can be downloaded below and are also available at our office and at any public library. By Mail: In order to be eligible to vote in the next scheduled election, a Voter Registration Application must be completely filled out and either USPS postmarked by the registration deadline; or otherwise delivered in person to our office no later than the close of business (4:30 p.m.) on the date of the deadline in order to be considered timely. Georgia Voters do NOT Register by Party In Georgia, voters do not register to vote by party. On the day of a Primary, each voter chooses a Democratic, Republican or Non-Partisan/Special Election (if applicable) ballot. In the case of a runoff, those who chose a Democratic ballot in the Primary can only vote a Democratic ballot in the Primary Runoff. Those who chose a Republican ballot in the Primary can only vote Republican ballot in the Primary Runoff. Those registered voters who did not vote in the Primary or who voted a Non-Partisan/Special Election ballot can choose either a Democratic, Republican or NonPartisan/Special Election (if applicable) ballot in the Primary Runoff. Other Ways to Register Voter Registration Applications are available at the Voter Registrations and Elections office. Applications are also available at any public library in Forsyth County. With the passing of the National Voter Registration Act, also known as the "Motor Voter" law, residents can register at the same time they receive their driver's license.
