EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY 03/19/2020: The following updates have been made to the inspection processes in regards to the COVID-19 matter. Please contact our department with any questions or concerns.

  1. County inspectors will not be conducting inspections of homes that have a CO until further notice. This is for permits such as basement finishes, remodels, additions, etc. Customers can wait for us to reopen all inspections, or you may use a third-party inspector off of our list. This does not effect new home construction.
  2. No more field contact for inspectors. Customers should not approach field staff. Questions will be answered by phone or email, not in the field. The inspectors are authorized to cancel the inspection and leave the site if a customer refuses to give the inspector adequate space.
  3. If there is a job that has an issue giving the inspectors adequate space, your permit will be placed on hold, and you will need to work with Steve Holder, CBO, to develop a plan to ensure the problem does not continue.

Inspections may be scheduled online through Estatus Inspection Portal--Inspections between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Inspection requests may also be emailed to inspectionschedules@forsythco.com or scheduled by calling 770-781-2115.  Please include your permit number and the type of inspection needed.

The primary mission of the Inspection Division is to enforce mandatory state construction codes, thereby ensuring safe and structurally sound construction on residential and commercial buildings. We strive to provide quality service to citizens and the business community of Forsyth County through innovation, continuous improvement, and a commitment to customer service.

Inspections are “trade specific” on all residential and commercial projects throughout the construction process. Inspections are also conducted on commercial buildings when there is a tenant change or change of use. Field Inspectors check and return phone and e-mail messages between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

ATTENTION BUILDERS:

We now have an email group designed to help relay useful information and notifications to builders & third party engineers whenever they arise. If you would like to join this Builder's e-mail group, please email Taylor Shirley, Administrative Assistant, with the name and email address of the person(s) that wish to be added.
