EFFECTIVE 04/06/2020: The inspections phone line at 770-781-2115 opt. 1 will be accepting calls from 7:30AM-4PM until further notice. Calls received after 4PM will reach the voicemail, which will be addressed the following morning. Emails to received after 4PM will be addressed the following morning as well. 

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY 05/22/2020: Inspections will resume as normal for permits with occupied homes (i.e. basement finishes, remodels, additions, etc.) on Tuesday May 26th, 2020. We do ask that you please be mindful of social distancing when inspectors are on site, and the inspectors will do the same. The primary mission of the Inspection Division is to enforce mandatory state construction codes, thereby ensuring safe and structurally sound construction on residential and commercial buildings. We strive to provide quality service to citizens and the business community of Forsyth County through innovation, continuous improvement, and a commitment to customer service.

Inspections are “trade specific” on all residential and commercial projects throughout the construction process. Inspections are also conducted on commercial buildings when there is a tenant change or change of use. Field Inspectors check and return phone and e-mail messages between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The Permit Division is responsible for permitting all phases of residential and commercial construction including new construction, renovations, additions, & accessory structures.

Walk-in permit processing hours are 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
