A Thanksgiving Message

  • November 23, 2020 |

Dear Forsyth County Residents:

This past week in our county, we were so blessed to have a ribbon cutting on Monday for our first Library Bookmobile that I refer to as our Opportunity on Wheels, giving a chance for so many to blossom in years to come.

On Tuesday, we finally broke ground on our 400/369, Exit 18 Browns Bridge Road interchange that will provide relief and safety to so many who travel that roadway and it will bring economic development to North Forsyth that will help in our tax base.

Also on Tuesday, we had a long-awaited ribbon cutting on the state-of-the-art Coal Mountain Dog Park next to our animal shelter. Our four-legged friends and their owners have been so excited for this park to open.  We believe this park will bring many new animal owners to adopt dogs at our animal shelter in the future. My soul was blessed as I saw some flowers planted by a little red lending that was built lovingly by a father, Herb Pedarre’, and filled with their daughter Ruthie’s books.  Sarah, her mother, had lovingly placed a sticker inside each book, that told the story of their sweet girl’s passing and how much she loved to read and how she loved her animals and there couldn’t be a more fitting place to put her most treasured books than to share them with other children in hopes they might enjoy reading them as much as she did.

So, on this Thanksgiving, I give thanks for our community. We might be a place that has grown in number, but we are still a place filled with gardeners who till, water and plant into our hearts and cause our souls to blossom and shine. I thank God for each one of you and for the bounty with which we have been blessed to receive here in Forsyth county!

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
