Senior Services and Public Transportation Departments Recognized for National, State Achievements
Two County departments were recognized for their achievements during a Board of Commissioners work session on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
The Department of Public Transportation received the Innovation Award by the Georgia Transit Association at an annual meeting in 2023. The department won the award for its exceptional innovation and customer service in technology.
The Department of Senior Services achieved national accreditation from the National Council on Aging for meeting standards of excellence for senior centers. Director Ruthie Brew said out of 12,000 senior centers across the country, only 100 have this accreditation, placing Forsyth County Senior Services Sexton Hall Enrichment Center and Charles Place Senior Center in the top one percent.
