Forsyth County held two COVID-19 vaccination events this week, with two more completely booked, appointment-based events set for next week. The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recognized the need to increase the opportunity for residents to receive COVID-19 vaccines. The Georgia Department of Public Health offers a COVID-19 vaccination site locator tool that allows residents to search for additional providers where the vaccine may be available for those that are eligible, per the state’s vaccine administration rollout plan. At this time, all appointments for the next two weeks are full.   We are working with Public Health to ensure vaccine availability. Once this is confirmed, additional appointments will be made available.   Information on additional appointments will be shared on the County’s website and social media channels. Forsyth County, in partnership with Northside Hospital Forsyth and other community partners, will begin administering COVID-19 vaccines to residents, by appointment only, that are eligible for the vaccine according to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s vaccine distribution plan. Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Elects Officers for 2021
During their first meeting of the year on Jan. 7, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners elected officers for 2021.   District 4 Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills was elected to serve as chairman; District 1 Commissioner Molly Cooper was elected to serve as vice chairman; and District 2 Commissioner Alfred John will serve as secretary.   The Board of Commissioners is made up of five members, each living in a specific district and elected by their district to serve four-year terms. During the Jan. 7 Board of Commissioners meeting, EMA Director Chris Grimes provided an update and additional information on COVID-19 vaccine distribution in Forsyth County, including: • COVID-19 vaccine distribution is a function of Public Health. Their online appointments filled up quickly and their phone system has been overwhelmed. There is a lot of demand for the vaccine, so they ask for patience as they add capacity to their call center. • Forsyth County Government will be assisting Public Health by providing resources and personnel for additional vaccination locations. Beginning Jan. 11, adults 65 years of age and older will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccine Current COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule (provided by Public Health). The following information regarding COVID-19 vaccines is provided by District Two Public Health. Georgia is currently in Phase 1-A of the COVID-19 Vaccine rollout.
