Polo Fields Park Master Plan Draft to be Presented During January 14 Public Input Meeting

Park Master Plan update based on Fall 2025 community survey

Following an online survey and public input meeting held in October, Forsyth County Parks & Recreation will host a community input meeting to unveil the draft master plan update for Polo Fields Park (6050 Majors Road), as well as collect community feedback, at the Midway Park Community Building (5100 Post Road) from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

“With a highly desirable location, iconic history and active soccer program, serving over 2,200 players on a regular basis, Polo Fields Park was one of the most challenging, yet valuable, properties for Forsyth County to acquire,” said Forsyth County District 3 Commissioner Todd Levent ahead of the Oct. 15 public input meeting.

“Having heard from the public at many town hall and HOA meetings over the years, I know there’s interest in maintaining the soccer fields, improving a few with turf, adequate parking and exploring some new features like a small amphitheater, tennis/pickleball courts, a dog park, an additional multi-purpose athletic field, a pavilion for events, and a meandering trail with trees.”

The draft, which includes plans for future amenities and offerings in the park based on survey and in-person feedback data collected at the October public input meeting as well as Parks & Recreation board recommendations, will be made available during the meeting as well as online at the Polo Fields Park webpage on Jan. 14. Residents and stakeholders will have the opportunity provide their feedback on the draft during the meeting, as well as online beginning Jan. 14.

The finalized draft will then be brought to the Board of Commissioners during a work session meeting for discussion and possible adoption in Spring 2026.

"This park belongs to the community, and your voice matters in shaping its future," said Forsyth County Director of Parks & Recreation Kirk Franz. "Polo Fields Park has so much potential, but the only way we can make it a place that truly fits our families, neighbors and friends is by getting your feedback and engagement on the park’s future."

Learn more about the master plan update and vision for the future of Polo Fields Park by listening to an October FoCo Unplugged podcast episode with Forsyth County District 3 Commissioner Todd Levent, Parks & Recreation Director Kirk Franz and County Manager David McKee.

The Polo Fields Park property (6050 Majors Road) consists of approximately 39 acres that the County acquired in the summer of 2022. It is best known for the polo matches hosted there in the 1980’s and for the youth soccer program currently held there. The renovation project aims to make improvements to the property, aligning it with the standards of Forsyth County Parks & Recreation to serve the community better. Lose Design has been contracted to lead the development of the master plan design.

In addition to the Polo Fields Park master plan update, Forsyth County Parks & Recreation is also updating its 10-year Master Plan through a multi-phased community and stakeholder engagement process and an online survey, which is available, along with more information, by visiting www.forsythco.com/yourparks.
