Recycling & Recycling Centers

Forsyth County Recycling and Solid Waste Department operates three public convenience centers for recycling and disposal of bagged household trash. Center Hours are Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on Sundays and county holidays.

*The Forsyth County Recycling Convenience Centers are for Forsyth County residents only.

Most recycling is free. *There are fees for Electronics, Paint, and Tires. (see below) 

Residential household trash disposal fee: $0.50 per bag if you also bring recycling, $1.00 per bag for non-recycling customers. 5 bag limit per day. Maximum size of bag: 32 gallon. The Centers accept cash only.

Residential trash and recycling only (no commercial or business waste accepted).

The next Household Hazardous Waste Recycling & Disposal Event will be held this Fall, Nov 2, 2024. Pre-registration is required. For details, click here.

  • Plastics: Plastic Bottles, Jugs, and Food Containers, marked #1 or #2 on bottom ONLY. No plastic containers larger than one gallon.
  • Hefty ReNew Program Plastics (Plastic packaging, plastic bags and wraps, styrofoam products, plastic dinnerware.) Click here for details and full list. *PLEASE NOTE: You must purchase orange Hefty ReNew bags in order to use the Hefty Plastics Bin. Loose Styrofoam, loose plastic items, or Styrofoam or plastic in any other type of bag are not permitted. *Unacceptable Plastics (for Plastics or Hefty Bin) include: plastic storage tubs or lids, plastic tubing, large plastic items such as buckets, chairs, barrels, kiddie pools, toys, etc. regardless of the number on them, plastics with no numbers

    Tires: $3 each, $15 on the rim. No solid tires. Limit 6 tires per week. For larger quantities, please call our office. 
  • Electronics - At the Tolbert Street Location Only
    Televisions: $12 each (No wood console or rear projection Tv's)
    All Other Electronics: $2 per item or $5 unlimited
  • Paint: Liquid or dried latex-based and oil-based paints and stains in original containers. We do not accept leaking cans.
