Ride Share Service Now Available for Seniors and Others in Need of Transportation

Ride Share, apilot transportation program facilitated in partnership with Common Courtesy,Inc., is now available for eligible Forsyth County residents. The program utilizes ride shareservices such as Lyft and Uber, and will serve as a supplement to the county’s Dial-A-Rideprogram.

 

Registered program participants are ableto call a dedicated phone number to schedule transportation to any locationwithin Forsyth County for $2 per one-way trip.

 

To be eligible for the Ride Shareprogram, participants must be a county resident 18 years of age or older andhave a credit card and cell phone to reserve transportation. The criteria forridership includes, but is not limited to:

 

-  An individual with special needs

-  An individual with physical disabilities

-  Is blind/visually impaired

-  Is hearing impaired

-  Is an older adult

-  Suffers from memory loss

 

Participants must also be able toutilize transportation services without any special accommodation. Depending onthe rider’s condition, an attendant/companion (who must be at least 18 years ofage) may be required and can ride at no additional charge. Account registrationand a $15 registration fee is required. The Ride Share registration applicationcan be accessed from the county’s Public Transportation webpage located atforsythco.com. Registration may also be completed in-person at any of thecounty’s three Senior Services facilities.

 

Ride shares are available from 7:30 a.m.to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

 

Passengers can utilize Ride Share up to12 round trips, or 24 one-way trips, per month. Other guidelines and riderinformation, such as a Ride Share ID and phone number used to call to reserve aride, will be provided following registration. Click here to visit the Ride Share webpage.
