Recycle Paint and Electronics November 5

Bi-annual recycling event to be held at the Cumming Fairgrounds in parking lot 3

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB) invites residents to recycle their unused paint and old electronics during the upcoming paint and electronics recycling event, held every fall and spring. This fall’s recycling event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cumming Fairgrounds' parking lot 3 off of Castleberry Road.

The event is used to raise funds for KFCB and improve the local environment. Accepted items for the electronics recycling event include desktop computers, laptops, printers, stereos, CD players, cell phones, gaming consoles and controllers, and more. An additional $20 fee will apply for each television and an additional $10 fee will apply for each computer monitor. In addition to recycling fees, a minimum donation of $5 per carload is requested. Please note that only cash payments will be accepted.

Latex and oil-based paints in their original containers will also be accepted. The cost to dispose of latex paint is $12 for a 5-gallon bucket, $5 for a 2-gallon bucket, $3 for a 1-gallon can and $1 for a 1-quart can or smaller. The cost to dispose of oil-based paints is $17 for a 5-gallon bucket, $4 for a 1-gallon can, $2 for a 1-quart can and $1 for a 1-pint can. The cost is $1 for any type of spray can.

“This event grows in popularity each year, especially with the addition of paint recycling last fall, and we are happy that we can continue to host it,” Environmental Program Manager Tammy Wright said. “A majority of the residents I speak with during our recycling events are just happy to be clearing out their garages or storage spaces and doing so in a safe, environmentally mindful way.”

Some items, such as large wooden console televisions, projector televisions, toaster ovens and refrigerators, will not be accepted during the event. For a complete list of acceptable and non-acceptable items, visit keepforsythcountybeautiful.org and click on the Recycling/Disposal tab, call KFCB at (770) 205-4573 or email kfcb@forsythco.com.
