Forsyth County Reports Sewage Spill to Georgia EPD

In accordance with Environmental Protection Division regulations, this is notice that on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, a sewer spill occurred when a City of Cumming contractor hit a sewer force main while installing a 12” water main. The spill occurred near Settingdown Creek, south of Matt Highway. It is estimated that approximately 4,000 gallons of sewage spilled into Settingdown Creek. 

The ground effected by the spill has been cleaned and Forsyth County is taking all necessary precautions along with complying with EPD guidelines. The Georgia EPD was notified of the incident on Feb.10, 2023, and stream monitoring has been established for a period of one year.
