Forsyth County Announces Death of Former Commissioner Molly Cooper

Former Forsyth County District 1 Commissioner and Vice-Chairwoman Molly Cooper died peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

“Our hearts go out to the Cooper family at this difficult time,” said Forsyth County Manager David McKee. “We will forever remember the many contributions former Commissioner Cooper made to the County, including dutifully serving with professionalism, integrity, humility and compassion despite fighting cancer during most of her term as commissioner.”

Cooper was elected in 2018 to serve as the District 1 commissioner for the 2019-2022 term and was elected by the Board of Commissioners to serve as secretary in 2020, and as vice-chairwoman in 2021 as well as 2022. She chose to not seek a second term in office due to her ongoing health issues.

Cooper was a resident of Forsyth County for the past 30 years. During that time, she served as President of the Republican Women of Forsyth County, President of Civitan and was the first the vice-chair of Forsyth County GOP. Commissioner Cooper also owned and operated a local business for over 16 years.

Memorial services will be provided by McDonald & Son Funeral Home with a 10 a.m. to noon visitation on Sunday, March 26, followed by a burial service. The burial will be at Kennesaw Memorial.
