Marine Personal Property Online

IMPORTANT: Any application filed online will be applicable to the 2022 tax year. 

Marine Personal Property online filings are for Forsyth County residents seeking to renew, add, or remove marine personal property for their existing account.  

New marine craft owners must use the PT-50M online form and manually complete it for their first filing in order for Tax Assessor to create the initial account. Starting with their second filing, they will be able to file online. 

Before continuing to the application and creating an account, please have the following documentation ready:

  • If you have sold or traded a marine craft and you did not own on January 1, this year, please have the name and address of the new owner in order for the items to be removed from your account. Please also provide a bill of sale, trade in document or other documentation.
  • If you have purchased any marine craft in the previous year, please attach a copy of the purchase document disclosing the purchase price.

Freeport Exemption

The governing authority of any county or municipality may elect, with the approval of the voters, to exempt the following types of tangible personal property: 
  • Inventory of goods in the process of being manufactured or produced including raw materials and partly finished goods; 
  • Inventory of finished goods manufactured or produced within this State held by the manufacturer or producer for a period not to exceed 12 months; 
  • Inventory of finished goods on January 1 that are stored in a warehouse, dock, or wharf which are destined for shipment outside this State for a period not to exceed 12 months 

The percentage of exemption for Forsyth County is 100 percent of the inventory value. 

Application for freeport exemption should be made with the Board of Tax Assessors on or before April 1 of each year. Applications filed after that time can receive a partial exemption for that year up to June 1.

PT-50A

Aircraft Personal Property Tax Return: for returning airplanes, rotorcraft, and lighter than air vehicles.

Marine Personal Property Tax Return: for returning boats and motors that include all craft in and above the water.


PT-50P

Business Personal Property Tax Return: for returning personal property of a business: furniture, fixtures, machinery, equipment, inventory, freeport inventory, aircraft, boats and motors, and other personal property.


PT-50PF

Application For Freeport Exemption Inventory: to accompany the Business Personal Property Tax Return when filing for freeport exemption in a county/city that has passed freeport.
