Tennis Courts, Other Amenities Added to Matt Community Park
Six lighted tennis courts, a pavilion and restroom facilities have been added to Matt Community Park (6555 Wallace Tatum Road) in northwest Forsyth County. The new facilities are located next to the existing playground.   “I am excited to continue adding new facilities to Matt Community Park,” said Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Director Jim Pryor. “The tennis courts will provide an opportunity to expand our tennis programs to another area of the county and the courts will be the new home to North Forsyth High School for their games.”   Forsyth County Parks and Recreation hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 29 in celebration of these new amenities.   The design ...

Pilgrim Mill Road will have a westbound lane closure for bridge construction from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5. This closure is weather dependent which could result in some fluctuation. Updates will be posted on the County Facebook and Twitter pages as necessary.

Forsyth County residents wishing to register to vote in the Nov. 3 General and Special Elections, or to change their name and/or address on the voter registration list, must do so by Monday, Oct. 5. County and state officials to discuss transportation in Forsyth County on Sept. 30  A virtual Forsyth County Transportation Summit will be held at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 30. New Fire Station 11 Now Open in West Central Forsyth County
Construction of new facility funded by SPLOST sales tax and Impact Fees  Forsyth County Fire Department’s new Fire Station 11 (4655 Pittman Road) officially opened on Monday, Sept. 28, to improve service and reduce response times in the west central portion of Forsyth County.  Construction of the new station is funded by the voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VI program and by Impact Fees.   Fire Station 11 is a 12,000 square foot, four-stall station, designed to accommodate the personnel and equipment that will operate out of the facility and to allow for future growth.   In Sept. 2018, the Forsyth County ...

Flags Flying at Half-Staff in Honor of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg
By executive order of Gov. Brian Kemp, the flag of the United States and the Georgia flag at County government facilities will fly at half-staff in honor of and to recognize the passing of Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsberg.  Justice Ginsberg served in her position for 27 years. Flags will fly at half-staff from now until the date of her interment.

Registered Forsyth County voters participating in the Nov. 3 General and Special Elections via absentee ballot now have the option to submit their ballot in an official Absentee Ballot Drop Box located outside of the Voter Registrations & Elections Office (1201 Sawnee Dr.). Portion of Big Creek Greenway Closed for Renovation Project
The section of the Big Creek Greenway multi-use trail from McFarland Pkwy. (mile marker 1.5) to Union Hill Road (mile marker 3.6) is closed immediately due to recent damages and flooding as a result of Tropical Depression Sally, including downed trees and damaged portions of the boardwalk. In addition, renovations to this section will begin soon. The renovation project is anticipated to be completed in 2021.   This project will include the replacement of existing wooden boardwalk sections and raising the profile in some areas of the trail. Advance voting for the Nov. 3 General and Special Election will be offered to registered Forsyth County voters from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and select Saturdays for three weeks, Oct. 12 through Oct. 30, at various locations.
