Residents encouraged to plan and prepare for emergencies

September is National Preparedness Month and the Forsyth County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) urges residents to take time during throughout the month to plan and prepare for disasters and emergency situations.

“There is never a wrong time to prepare for how you and your family will respond to an emergency situation,” said Forsyth County EMA Director Chris Grimes. “With school back in session and families returning to their routines after the summer break, September is a great opportunity to put an emergency plan in place or review and update emergency procedures.”

The theme for National Preparedness Month 2019 is “Prepared, Not Scared.” Throughout the month, residents will learn about four important steps they can take to be prepared for emergencies:

Save early for disaster costs

Make a plan to prepare for disasters

Teach youth to prepare for disasters

Get involved in your community’s preparedness
